This past week has been very exciting for Josh Bryant and Brian Dobson, the co-authors of the new e-book “Metroflex Powerbuilding Basics.” Brian had one of his clients, Branch Warren, win the Arnold Classic; Josh Bryant had one of his trainees, Chad Smith, total 2165 RAW. On top of this, they also released their brand new, comprehensive e-book this week. Whether your goal is to gain strength, gain muscle, or simply lose some fat, this book has something for everybody.
Brian Dobson first gained notoriety by training Ronnie Coleman through the amateur ranks in bodybuilding to eight consecutive Olympia Titles. Now he is guiding Branch Warren along this same path. Brian is not “jumping on the bandwagon” he has been with these two athletes from their genesis. Although he is most noted as a bodybuilding expert, Brian has also successfully trained many powerlifters.
Josh Bryant has trained a variety of different athletes, everybody from bikini competitors to some of the strongest men in the world. He also has a legion of “normal” people he trains. He has shown time and time again that he has the knowledge and expertise to help anybody attain their goals. Josh has a master’s degree as well as multiple certifications, but if you ask him, he is most proud of his “in the trenches” experience.
The two most successful trainers at Metroflex Gym have put their heads together to bring you “Metroflex Gym Powerbuilding Basics.”
How is “Metroflex Gym Powerbuilding Basics” unique, and what are some of the topics covered?
- Over 50 proven routines are included
- 170+ videos of exercises
- Program design for: Fat gainers, medium gainers, and slow gainers
- Psychological preparation and goal setting strategies
- Sample workouts by past greats
- Building a Base
- Hormonal responses to different types of exercises
- Nutrition: Bulking, Cutting, Carb Cycling, Fixed Carbohydrate Approach
- Deload programming for bodybuilding, powerlifting, and powerbuilding

- Strongman Training (For hypertrophy, strength, power and conditioning)

If your goals involve gaining muscle, getting stronger, losing body fat or just improving your overall conditioning, this book can help you. No matter your goal, take advantage of the knowledge of these two champion builders. And all of this is available to you for about half the price of one training session at 24 hour fitness.

This book was a great read, my favorite yet. This opened my eyes to conditioning for fat loss and that sction alone made the book worth buying. I am currently implementing the interval sprint program and may try some of the kettlbell training. I am looking ahead this year to trying some of the strongman for hypertrophy training. Thanks for this unique perspective, thanks gents. God bless you guys.

This is an excellent book. It was great to see all those training routines of some of the greatest strength guys of all time. It was really comprehension in its approach. I read it straight thru – even though it was over 300 pages. First all nighter for a ong time. Hope there are more books coming.
I am sort of jaded when it comes to e-books, usually people just crank these things out over a couple of days and you can really tell. To me, it seems that a lot of time and care was given to this book. I really liked the nutrition and workout routine sections. You get your money’s worth in the routine section alone, the rest is just the cream cheese on the bagel.
I am about to order this. My boy said its the bomb. How long is it like 50 pages? Any nutritional stuff?
The training stuff was outstanding but the goal setting and pysch prep section is great. I’m to use this stuff with my charges and trainees. Thanks!
At first when it was advertised here I thought it might just be a bunch of stuff thrown together from stuff we already know as when I originally read the included list I was thinking in my head that a lot of this stuff I could just find free online.
Since people are saying its a good book Ill think about buying it then
This is my favorite e-book to date. I KNOW anything elitefts puts out is high quality. NUFF SAID
@Herman
It is 310 pages and has tons of nutritional info.
This is definitely worth the money
I swear with more and more e-books actually being worth a flip I’m going to have to buy a tablet or something to read these (as I despise reading long e-books on a computer). Definitely wish it was a hard-copy but I’ll purchase it anyways as I’ve heard nothing but good things and I’m a big fan of Josh Bryant.
Great ebook. The section on recovery was interesting and informative. I thought it was pretty slick that these guys put up buku (close to 200 I think) videos on youtube to demonstrate the exercises they described.
Chad off subject-When is your next meet? Great performance by the way. I have been making some great gains with the Juggernaut Method and Josh told me through e-mail to keep on using your method his exact words “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Could I throw in some of his conditioning stuff with your template? Thanks bro
I have always been intrigued by Metroflex Gym and the athletes it has produced. It was nice to read about how they do things down there. I learned a lot about hardcore training in this book. A must read for hardcore trainers. Now I got to save up the money to make it down there in person!
This is one of and maybe the best training book i ever read. Josh did an excellent job putting everything together. I’d put it up with an book i’ve read to date.
Why? If you buy this you might not ever need another book on training. that’s hard to say and only a handful of books I ever read I’d put in the same category. It’s easy to read and understand for a high school kid/novice trainer to a PhD type.
Josh has done a fantastic job referring to the old timers such as Kaz and Ed Coan and others. He understands that strong people through the ages have done similar things to gain their strength and size. It’s the common threads of busting your hump, taking care of yourself, and eating well that give you results.
He knows this and has given you a great product to succeed. With this book you can put together a program on your own and get some incredible real world results. I’m a little biased of course, since Josh is coaching my son online now. but the bias comes from his results.
It’s a bargain at 2-3X the price. for 29.95$ it’s a steal.
My favorite was the neck routine. Glad you consulted big Jim Voronin for it. His neck was ridiculous.
I want to try the fat gainer program
great e-book, Josh put a ton of effort into it and wasnt “holding back” anything
@Rob I am going to try that Brian Dobson/Tom Platz bulk program
I really liked that they included some vid’s. Sometimes I don’t know what the exercises are that people about… its good to have visual
I have read through this e-book, and have to say this has to be the best functional information on the market for true performance gains. Great job from true gym warriors!!
Excellent resource. Much more than I expected in all areas from nutrition to building and everything in between and supported by demonstration video’s.
Looking forward to more from these authors.
best ebook EVER
I’ve spent 2x this on ebooks from “experts” and got 10% of the information contained in this book. I did however get 5 bonus books of crap and web site forum memberships that are barely updated. The book just made all those other people look like the con artists they are.
Very good book. I’d would highly recommend it.
This book is an epic read and I was fortunate to get an advance copy. Its refreshing to get training advice and accounts from those with extensive in-the-trenches experience like Brian Dobson and Josh.
You only have to do 1 (one) thing to get the greatest fat-loss results you will ever get: Get Kenneth Jay’s book Viking Warrior conditioning. Do the 15:15…..there is nothing better!
@Barry S.
Thanks, my next meet is the August SPF Pro/AM. I don’t see any problem adding Josh’s conditioning to TJM
Awesome book. Josh is one of the best trainers in the world. He leads by example. A world class lifter and a world class trainer.
Assuming you were NOT being sarcastic, sorry AJ but Kenneth Jay isnt close to the same level as Bryant and Dobson.
This is a fantastic resource. I have know Josh Bryant for many years and have had the privilege of watching him train, protect the streets of Santa Barbara, take time to help athletes with special needs, and be a “good” son. Obviously without this information you are not maximizing you training and performance.
What format is the book in?
