This is very sad indeed. Whenever a true luminary passes, we are all lessened by their departure. My thoughts and prayers go out to Dr.Verkhoshansky’s family. I am sorry, my friend, that you lost two people who influenced you so much within a few months.

I first heard of Dr. Yuri Verkhoshansky about 4 years ago through the many articles I read on the Westside Barbell site. I must say I’ve learned a great deal about sport preformance that I would have never found thanks to him and his studies. Nice article and God bless his family.

Great tribute, James.

As a student of Exercise Science, I find that the literature and information authored by Prof. Verkhoshansky absolutely invaluable to my understanding of the holistic nature of the Sports Training Process, and not that of just ‘strength training’ and ‘conditioning’ which is so popular in the Exercise Science academia.

It is sad to see a true giant of sports science pass, my condolences to his family and friends, and may he rest in peace.
