Well, we finally heard back from our Prowler winner. He was on a long vacation, camping out in Michigan.
Who is our winner?
Dave Reynolds of Dekalb, IL. Which, I am told is west of Chicago. Dave is 47 years old and has been lifting since he was 16.
He has been following EliteFTS since it started up in 1998. But, if I wanted to be technical, he started following my awesome boss even before that, when he was just writing about training.
Dave’s favorites to follow on the site were Defranco and Even-Esh when they started up their gyms. It inspired him to start up his own.
His gym’s name is Moose(L) Up! Redeption Club and Strength Gym. The name came about because his partner’s nickname is moose. Clever, huh? Moose(L) Up! is a private warehouse gym for those even with strangest of schedules because it is open 24/7. They have quite a few firefighters and police officers that train there. Members can perform strongman/powerlifting type training there as well as functional training. Moose(L) Up! has everything, from EFS equipment, chains and bands to homemade deadlift platforms. To get accepted into the facility everyone must fill out an application and read the Moose(L) Up! training philosophy before they’re allowed to train and become entrusted with a key.
“We already have an Econo Prowler and were just recently looking to buy another,” Dave said. “This couldn’t have happened at a more perfect time.”
Make sure you’re still signed up for our newsletter, because we’ll be having contests a couple times a year. I’m told we may be giving away an iPad.
Moose(L) Up! Training Philosophy
MOOSE(L) UP! GYM, LLC
Moose(L) Up! Gym Reason for Being
Redemption: the act of redeeming, to be free from what distresses or harms, to change for the better, to repair and restore.
Philosophy:
Our philosophy is a simple one: every day is another opportunity to improve. We are committed to life long learning and self- improvement in the areas of mind, body, spirit and emotion. This game we call life can be difficult and unpredictable. How you prepare yourself for life’s uncertainties can make the difference in success or failure. We believe constantly challenging oneself physically and mentally, while growing intellectually and building emotional resilience, will make it easier to play the game.
“Training is the physical expression of one’s inner self.”
- Bruce Lee
Training is simply a means to an end. Training at Moose(L) Up Gym develops character, commitment, and confidence. Traits critical to success on life’s field of play. We seek to associate with individuals who have a passion for self- improvement and a desire
to perform and feel better than previously thought. Confidence speaks volumes. We offer an attitude and promote a lifestyle that reflects positive self-worth and an understanding that breaking personal barriers fuels great performances in life.
Moose(L) Up Gym was not conceived to generate revenue. It was essentially borne out of frustration and the need to shatter the status quo. It is an expression of an ideal; we strive to be the best athletes in the game of life, period. The common threads binding our members are drive, passion, heart and desire: to suffer in order to attain, to renew by embracing change and to seek continual self- improvement by overcoming self-doubt.
“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours”
-Henry David Thoreau

Company Snap Shot:
Moose(L) Up is a warehouse gym. It is not fancy; there are no TV’s or treadmills. Moose(L) Up Gym is a facility for individuals with a certain mindset in fitness looking to pursue their fitness goals in an otherwise unorthodox fashion. Our members engage in various forms of physical and, as a result, psychological training to support specific life, sport, or work objectives or simply to cross-train for their core activity.
We desire to work alongside athletes, runners, police, fire and military personnel, weekend warriors, tri-athletes, and common people looking to achieve uncommon abilities. To this end, we choose colleagues who resonate with this spirit. We are exclusive and membership is by invitation or referral only.
Our members will enjoy 24/7 access to pursue their fitness goals as their lifestyle dictates, and become part of a community that transcends the typical gym culture and facilitates sharing of unique strengths and skills.
We can create fitness programs for our members or members are free to forge their own path. All members are partners in the club’s mutual goals, which under score our desire for exclusivity.
“The Code”
- We will recognize that every day is an opportunity to improve
- We will constantly learn. Learning is a way of being.
- We will share our knowledge, and expect to be taught in return.
- We will tell the truth. You will never get better by being told how great you are. Sometimes the truth does hurt.
- When you are here, you will work. There is a time and place for bullshit. This is not that place.
- Being here is a privilege, not a right. Police yourselves, if we have to, you will not be here.
- Make a decision: If you are here for the appearance of fitness, you are in the wrong place. If your objective is true fitness, then welcome. If you lack the ability to know right from wrong, you are definitely in the wrong place.
- Physical and psychological breakdowns will occur. You will be challenged like you never have been. Being a trustworthy peer is paramount, for the day will come when you will need the push. We will watch each other’s back.
- Stay Driven!
- We will never be finished.
“I hope to always desire more than I can achieve.” -Michelangelo

Was thinking about skipping my squat workout tonight. Then I watched this video. Now on way to the gym. Awesome video.
Congrats to Moose(L) Up!
Although I was hoping the Prowler would land a little farther north (like here in Rockford) it seems it made it to a good crew that will use it! Perhaps I’ll have to stop by next time I’m down in the home of barbed wired.
EliteFTS keep up the good work, looking forward to more newsletters.

this guy cheated!!!!! i heard he made 700 hotmail emails and used them all!!!!!
After reading that piece, hard to argue with him being the winner. Kudos!
Congrats on the win. I was wondering if you guys had a website or some way to contact you guys? Either elitefts or dave could answer this one.
Thanks guys
Yo Dave, if you don’t want that prowler I’ll trade you a pair of fat gripz and a used pair of squatting briefs for it
Anyone know of a private gym like this closer to the St. Charles area?
If you guys get bored with the gym training, I’ve got 8 cords of wood to split and stack! Granny’s getting too old to help.
Congrats on the win. Couldn’t go to a more driven bunch of guys!
Is this place affiliated with Gym Jones? Not that there’s anything wrong with that…just wondering…
